 PROGRAMME OF STUDY LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

his unit is designed for Year 9 - Autumn Term. It connects with units 1 and 7 in dealing with aspects of human identity and experience, and with units 6 and 8 in dealing with aspects of beliefs about spiritual dimensions of life.

FEATURED FAITH(S): Christianity and Sikhism.

TIME: This unit is planned for 20 sessions of 50 minutes each.

A4 Identify and compare some religious beliefs/ideas and describe their significance to believers.
A5 Identify some of the principal beliefs/ideas shared by Sikhs and Christians and explain how these beliefs/ideas may have an impact on the lives of believers.
D3 Compare aspects of, and influences on, their own identity, with those of religious believers.
D4 Ask a range of questions about religious identity/personality/experience and suggest appropriate answers.
D5 Articulate feelings about their own identity/personality/experience in the light of qualities demonstrated by Sikhs and Christians.
D6 Demonstrate a critical awareness of and respect for people’s view of their identity/personality/experience, including the views and associated feelings of Sikhs/Christians.
